College student who just found out about this event, want to help
Hey everybody,
as the product of parents who were part of the movement in the 60's I want to do my part, i just ran into your website (via word of mouth) on campus and I really want to do my part.
there are a lot of things that you can do to help:
if you are not going to go to the camp,
1. print out flyers from this website and pass them out to people to get the word out about the border. The whole point about the no borders camp is to break the silence about the border. bring the border home!
2. organize a benefit for us because we always need money, before, during, and after the camp.
3. organize in your area: are there raids happening? Work with others to do something about them! since they are happening in almost every major city in the country, I can probably assume that they are happening where you are
4. organize in solidarity with groups that already exist in your area
5. find someone else who is going and send needed supplies: DRINKING WATER (especially 5 gallon jugs), large pots and pans, 25 pound bags of beans and rice, tarps, kerosene lanterns, and radios, as a start
6. contact sympathetic lawyers you may know and have them contact us
If you are going to the camp:
1. Find other people to go with you because safety is in numbers
2. come prepared with sleeping bag, tent, and a personal food and water supply enough for at least one day (we assume that each person will need 3-5 gallons of water a day, for drinking, doing dishes, and washing)
3. become part of a working group, such as medics, food, legal support
Its all cool waht your saying, and I am trying to get my brothers (native americans) to jump on board, but they are saying that this is all a hoax, that no one will really show, So I ask you is this a hoax?
No one knows where its going to be with the exception of naming the city, so are we camping in someone's backyrd or what?
Secondly, what about squatting on private property, does that not give the man the right to kick us out, then we become a band of gypsies looking for a home.
Camp O, I want to attend but I want to bring people with me, so what can we do to convince others that you are in fact the truth and are wanting to make difference?
despite the doubts you express, i hope you and your friends decide to check out the camp. this will be what we make of it...and i'd like to see you here!
if you are concerned about the legality issues, maybe you can check out the protest at the detention center on friday afternoon, then, decide if you want to come out to the camp for the last few nights. for more on the detention center protest, check out the "schedule of events" or the downloads section.
If you are worried about trying to get here, you should look at the "on your way" section of the website. There are many different ways to get here, and it is pretty specific and laid out how to get here, where you go when you do get here, as well as who to call at what time.
There are some things that we can not disclose over a website so as to not jeopardize the entire event.
It is also specifically laid out that this is a civil disobediance. People who are coming know that we have quite a big possibility to get kicked out by the powers that be, so if you are interested in coming, it is useful to have an idea how to leave. Like if you hitchhiked here, are you planning on hitchhiking back, or posting that you want a ride in a car back on the ride board? Or carpooling with other people, or renting your own private jet plane? Because if that is the case, I'd like to meet you and I'd like a ride. I've never been inside a private jet plane.
The fact that you think this is a hoax though, is a bit offensive because people across the U.S. and Mexico have been working on this project for over a year.
If you are worried about coming, bring your own food and water, as well as your own tents and sleeping bags, but don't worry, we will have an infrastructure so that you will not die in the desert.
my intent was not to offend but to ask, and therefore I did as i am interested in getting to the truth, a belief passed on to me by my elders. as for the method of travel, plane it will not be, however, my brothers and i will crusie in on tuesday evening, and look forward to meetin you all, sorry for the offense, not my intention, any last minute items I should bring, please advise.
